It is with deep respect and sadness that we share the passing of Ronald M. Lydick, founder of Marathon Services. Ron passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
Ron was a dedicated business owner and leader for more than 46 years, building Marathon Services with a steadfast commitment to integrity, excellence, and service. His leadership was defined not only by his business acumen but also by his genuine care for people—clients, colleagues, and the community alike. He cultivated lasting relationships built on trust, respect, and reliability. His legacy will continue to guide the company forward.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (1966–1970), where he was also a proud member of Phi Kappa Psi. His academic foundation and strong work ethic were evident throughout his career and life.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ron was deeply committed to service. Alongside his wife, Mardu Lydick, he was a founding member of the Military Animal Project, helping connect Veterans with the healing companionship of rescue animals, a bond he and Mardu witnessed transform lives again and again.
Ron was also an Associate member of the Marine Corps League, active in Detachments 597 and 672, and a dedicated supporter of Toys for Tots. Giving back was never about recognition; it was simply who he was.
To those who knew him personally, Ron was a devoted husband, partner, and best friend. Ron and Mardu's story began nearly 29 years ago on a chance introduction that quickly grew into a lifetime of shared purpose. Together, they built a successful business and a life grounded in partnership, resilience, laughter, and mutual respect. This April would have marked their 25th wedding anniversary, a milestone they approached with the same enduring commitment that defined their years together.
Even during a courageous battle with appendiceal cancer, Ron remained resilient and engaged. He continued to support both his business and the causes he cared about. He faced life’s challenges with strength, determination, and an unwavering spirit.
Ron will be remembered for his leadership, integrity, and generosity. His impact on Marathon Services, Military Animal Project, and the many lives he touched will endure for years to come.
